tormented

last week i discovered a new roommate, of sorts, that had been hiding in our apartment. early one morning, i decided to open up with curtains in our bedroom to let some sun in. with a swoop of the curtain, a creature flew out and landed square on my foot! by the time i knew what had happened, it was already scurrying off. but i saw enough of it's tail as it crawled under our bed, to realize it was another gecko.

you may remember a few shorts months ago, we had another gecko, also in our bedroom. after two crazy hours of unsuccessful chasing, we FINALLY caught him. but once we caught him, we weren't exactly sure what to do with him... so... we opened up our 7th floor window and dropped him. the fate of that gecko is unknown. but now i'm thinking that this new gecko was a cousin of our former gecko and that he knows how we threw him out the window to his imminent death. now the cousin is here tormenting us!

i know it might not sound like much. i mean it's just a harmless little gecko. you might be saying, "it's just a gecko. it can't bite you or hurt you." and you might be right about not biting us. but hurt us it might! every time that little lizzardy creature darts across the wall, or scurries across the floor it nearly gives me a heart attack! and it's not ONLY in his presence. a slight shadow appears on the wall and i jump! lance makes a sudden move, and i jump! i can't even open the windows anymore without fear that he is hiding somewhere in between the folds just waiting to jump out at me again and scare me. i'm a jittery, anxious mess! anyone know how to catch a gecko? or better yet, anyone know how to keep geckoes OUT of our house?!

  1. Ewww....let's see....you could get a birdcage and keep him for a pet... you could tie a shoestring around his little gecko-neck and take him for a walk...you could cook 'em and make gecko soup--but I guess you were really asking HOW to catch them or keep them out--not what to do with them once you caught them! Hmmm...maybe get a butterfly net, or make one out of a pillowcase and a wire hanger, then catch him and proceed with any of the above ideas!!!! :) Love ya, Kimmy! Rita
